2018 BEISHAN WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL

1 min read

The festival’s”Resident Musicians” program, designed to encourage exposure of local folk music on a global stage, turned out a sensational success. In fact, the charming placement of Zhuhai’s indigenous music with the accompaniment of piano and bass marks the coming of age of Beishan Music Festival as the magnetic music brand it now is. With the seeds of music sown in the soil of Beishan, the brand has gone beyond the musical facade of one place and genre to reach deeper cultural connections, evolving symbiotically with this ancient, lively neighborhood.

The proud representative of a new generation of European musicians, this Serbiar quartet breaks all temporal, geographical and cultural boundaries of Balkan Jazz, explosively blending classical music, art-rock and traditional melodies.

Universal Sky feat. Damien Prud’ homme(France, Germany) A project that is all about eliminating boundaries and using music to share emotions.

Hang Em High (Switzerland, Austria, Poland) Hot like melted iron, cool as Clint Eastwood.

Cannonbal (Australia)

Inspired by the jazz/groove/soul music of the late saxophone giant Julian”Cannonball” Adderley. Heavy Blues and gospel influence combined with a deep, infectious groove.

This eclectic group of four uses a mix of melodic and percussive sounds to create a Blues-like music that exhibits all the shades of the participating instruments.

The “revolution”of Beishan all started in the artistic gaze of Xue Yihan, the artist father of Simone Xue and his brother Xue Jun.
