It is the granite that looks like Mao Zedong, who lies on his back. The “face”is about 183 meters long, while Mao is 183 centimeters high. And the width is 56 meters. The “forehead”is formed by a giant rock. The nose, lips, lower jaw and neck could all find their own places. They are so natural as though they were real. There is a wild forest which forms Mao’s hair. There is a mole on his face, and on the face area of the granite, there are more than ten trees rooted here, just like the mole on the face. It is about 1,000 meters from the head to the chest. All these coincidences are amazing. Looking from a distance away, you will find it is really like a Mao lying on his back. All the visitors call the mountain Maogong Mountain, so the name becomes more and more popular.

Well, how did people find out that the shape of the mountain looks like Mao? It would trace back to the year 1991. Not long after National Day, Huang Xiaowei and Chen Daixiong, the cadres of Hainan Nongken Youth League Committee Head Office, went to Baoguo Farm to have an inspection. During the time of their working, they chatted with the secretary, Lin Qingzhou, on the third floor of the working building. Suddenly, Huang was attracted by the Baoguo Mountain. Huang shouted “Isn’ t it Mao lying there on the mountain?”This statement passed on among people one by one, and ten by ten. People all came out to have a look at it. Ever since then, the mountain has become popular. In 1992, the National Environment Protection Agency requested that the mountain should be well preserved and well developed. After the charity performance of some famous artists on the anniversary of Mao, the mountain gained its good reputation all around the world.

Apart from the landscape statues, the mountain is magnificent, the vegetation is lush. There are two rivers at the foot of the mountain, and the water in the river is rather clear. And there are colorful stones in the band.
