Beautiful Liaoning Province

2 min read

Focusing on Liaoning Province, the traveler can experience a great microcosm of Chinese culture in this northern province that is not only a short plane ride from the capital Beijing but also from other major Asian tourist centers of Seoul, Korea and Tokyo, Japan.

Liaoning is often referred to as the “cradle of the Qing Empire”, the last imperial dynasty to rule China and home to the Manchurian culture. Even farther back, some 160 million years back, the area that encompasses Liaoning was home to many dinosaurs and teeming with abundant and fruitful prehistoric life. Fast forward back to the modern China of the last 100 years and Liaoning served as the foundry for many of China’s natural resource-driven industries.

For many travelers to China, the Middle Kingdom is often carved up into differing areas of interest. Southern China is best known for the cities of Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao, areas famous for eating, shopping and where many of the exported products are made.

For many travelers to China, the Middle Kingdom is often carved up into differing areas of interest. Southern China is best known for the cities of Guangzhou, Hong Kong andMacao, areas famous for eating, shopping and where many of the exported products are made. Southwest China, most famous of Sichuan, Guizhou and Guangxi are home to many of China’s vibrant ethnic minorities spread out over some of the most amazing landscape and vistas the country has to offer. Western China is often viewed as a great frontier and can include up to half of the country in many travel guides including the autonomous regions of Tibet, Ningxia, Xinjiang and more. The Northeast(also known in the West as Manchuria), which includes Jilin, Heilongjiang and Liaoning provinces, is most often viewed through a snow-ringed lens as the home to many of China’s winter activities and industries.

The winter in Liaoning is beautiful as a layer of ice and snow dust the trees and foliage giving a crystallized view.

Red lanterns line the snow-covered eaves of Ming Dynasty-styled hotels and courtyards all over Liaoning.

These design elements serve to take guests back in time to a more luxurious era.
