2 min readAlso, since Liaoning and all of Northeast China is extremely cold in the winter it is more enjoyable to have a long leisurely bath in a hot spring rather than just a quick shower at home.I asked if they could imagine living somewhere else where there was not an abundance of hot springs and they both laughed at me as if that was simply not possible.
After my steam I wandered over to a big revolving door puffing steam as it made its revolutions realizing this was the gate to the outside.I took a deep breath and tightened up knowing I was about to venture out into the cold crisp night air.I looked through the glass door and saw a handful of pavilion entrances sitting just beyond the door and a large pool immediately outside.I came outside and quickly sunk into the pool and gazed up at the stars and twinkling lights that surrounded the perimeter. The water was warm but not overly hot.
One of my cohorts came into the pool as well and both looked at each other a bit disappointed. The pool was not very exciting but before we could decide whether to stay or leave we were escorted by one of our other companions down one of the outdoor corridors and realized we had merely broken through the surface of the tang on offer.
The small entry way at the front desk did little to set off the vision of what cascadeddown the mountainside just beyond the changing rooms and indoor pool. Laid out before us was an entire valley of crisscrossing covered walkways and warmly lit pools of all types. The star-filled sky was made more lovely by the red lanterns that were placed in all of the private bungalows and covered pools houses that dotted the area.
