Lao-tzu

1 min read

Lao-tzu , named Li Er , also known as Lao Dan , was a great thinker and philosopher in the Spring and Autumn Period .

As the founder of the Taoist school, he wrote his famous work Daodejing , with the simple ideas of dialectics as its essence, in which he tried to build a theory to include the universe of all things. He believed that all things follow the law: the internal of the thing itself is not single and static, but complex and changeable.

He also held that all things have two sides which are in a non-stop campaign and can be constantly changed. The focus of Taoism is on the individual within the natural realm rather than the individual within society; according to Taoism, the goal of life for each individual is to seek to adjust oneself and adapt to the rhythm of the natural world, to follow the way of the universe and to live in harmony with nature.

It can be said that the doctrine of Laotzu has influenced all the Chinese culture and his works and ideas have become the precious wealth of the historical and cultural heritage in the world.
