The Longmen Waterfall
1 min readThe Longmen Waterfall (also Dragon’s Gate Waterfall瀑) is a wonder of Mount Emei, one of China’s four famous Buddhist mountains in the southwest of Emeishan City, Sichuan Province.
The water in the Longgong Caves (also called Dragon Palace Caves) flows from high to low, then goes through the karst cave, and finally roars down at the mouth of the cave over 50 meters high, 26 meters wide, thus forming a fantastic sight-a waterfall formed in cave. At the falls, there is a viewing area which is always crowded with tourists.
There is also a flight of stairs beyond the often-crowded viewing platform leading to an upper angle of view that is a little quieter and offers a different overall view of the unusual Longmen Waterfall. At the viewing area, a bridge extends to the right, goes up some more steps through caves and finally leads to a lake exactly above the waterfall allowing for nonmotorized boat trips through another cave further upstream.
