The Chinese nation has been paying great attention to the unity of all the ethnic groups of China and the national unity.
From the old times，the 56 peoples of China have worked hard and lived across China.
They have helped each other and learned from each other over long years and thus formed a unified multi-ethnic country.Keeping solidarity and unity of the Chinese nation is the basis for the“great revival”of the Chinese people and is the basic interest of all Chinese.Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949，the Constitution has been providing the system of regional autonomy for ethnic minorities in areas where different ethnic minorities live together.Great social and economic progress has been made in those areas.The relationship of equality，unity and mutual assistance among all the ethnic minorities has been growing.
Dr.Sun Yat-sen，the great pioneer of the Chinese democratic revolution pointed out that“China is a united country.That has deeply existed in its historical identity，which has brought us together.”In thousands of years of the Chinese civilization，staying together as a country has been the main trend of history and a noble goal generations of Chinese people have had.There is only one China in the world.It is the common wish of the people of China to reunify their motherland.

The Chinese nation always loves freedom and peace.The Chinese people are always looking forward to global peace and friendship among all nations.Since ancient times，China has had firmly pursued a policy of”benevolence and good-neighborliness.”The Chinese people suffered greatly from wars and invasions in modern times，and they feel deeply how precious peace is.The building and development of each country requires a peaceful and stable environment both at home and abroad.Freedom for the whole nation is a precondition for individual freedom.We all hope that everyone in the world can live without the war or the violence and can enjoy freedom without oppression，discrimination or bullying.
The socialist road and the internal and external policies chosen and followed by the Chinese people come from the logic of historical development of modern China and from the fine tradition of the Chinese nation formed over thousands of years.Therefore，they are wel1-founded and solidly-based from the viewpoint of history and reality.Our goal in general is to achieve modernization and turn China into a strong，prosperous，democratic and civilized socialist country by the year when the People’s Republic of China celebrates its 100th birthday.We firmly believe that we’1l go ahead and overcome difficulties along the way and realize this great aim.
