Tianhuangping Power Station in Tianhuangping Scenic Area

There are three main tourist spots in Tianhuangping Scenic Site featured with three different landscapes. They are characterized by the power station on mountain top, the bamboo forests in valley, and the magic peaks ranging along the mountains. As a bright part of Heaven Pool of South China and an ecological industrial tourist spot, Tianhuangping Power Station attracts many tourists every year. Because of its superior geographical position and good environmental benefits, the oversize hydroelectric power station with advanced mechanical and electrical equipments at the world-level enjoys the great prestige both at home andabroad. The power station, which is famous for its unique place on the top of mountains, has a total installed capacity of 1,800,000 kilowatts including 6sets of 300,000 kilowatts of vertical shaft reversible type power-pumping units. The power station which is located at the altitude of more than 1,000 meters becomes the highest and largest power station in Asia.

Tianhuangping Power Station has been called a majestic project in the 21st century. The total cost of the project is about 750 millions(RMB), and the construction of it lasted 8 years and thousands of workers and engineers were employed to work round the clock on 3 shifts. Seeing from the sky, it looks like a twinkling pearl inlaid on the top of lofty mountains. With the local development of tourism,a complete set of facilities for tourism and entertainment has been set up near the power station. The newly built alpine skiing ground and the hot-spring baths attract more and more tourists.A great number of tourists from neighbouring cities and regions spend theirholidays in the scenic site every year. Now it becomes a rare sub-highland resort, and it perfectly combines industrial tourism with popular science education.
