2 min read“The Ruins of Iron Tile Temple “is located about 700m away from the northwestern shore of Tianchi. The temple is said to be built by Quanzhen Qiu Chuji. according to historical records, in 1219, the leader of Quanzhen Taism Qiu Chuji travelled to the west under the imperial edict of Genghis Khan. He preached his teachings, built temples, andmade poems throughout the journey. When the sage-like Immortal Changchun travelling allover famous mountains and great rivers reached Fukang, he wrote the famous poem Stay in Luntai and view the yinshan mountains in the Southeast passionately after visiting tianchi Lake and bogda peak, and the poem reads:
Three peaks reach for the sky; and mountain creeks circle round the peaks The snow peak is near the sky and uninhabited; one will feel dazzled to view the scenery of the ice pool reflecting the sun.
The deep valley can elude the turmoil; and the water is abundant for nourishing everything.
It is the most fantastic scenery in the northern areas: no one will watch the picture agaIn.
Qiu chuji also led his disciples to build the Iron Tile Temple on the platform at the west bank of Tianchi Lake. The temple is famous for its black brick walls and the iron tiles. In the period between the reign of Emperor Qianlong and Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, Tianchi Taoism reached its heyday, and this temple became the center of taoism in Xinjiang. Bogda Mountain was also known as”Blessing and Longevity Mountain”, so the temple was also called”Blessing and Longevity Temple”. The temple was built facing the east, with halls on the right to enshrine Qiu Chuji et al. The temple has been built for three times and destroyed for three times, and now there are only the ruins.
