Hemu Grassland Hemu
2 min readGrassland is located in the fault basin at the intersection of Kanas River and Hemu River, at an altitude of 1,124-2,300m. The surrounding mountains are broad and dignified with round tops, and lots of canyons have been incised by rivers; the terrain is complex; Hemu River flows across the grassland from the northeast to the southwest, dividing it into two parts.
On the shady slopes of the mountains the dense forests are verdant, and there are red deer, marmots, and snow cocks and other animals and birds in those forests; the sunny slopes are covered with green grass, dotted with fragrant flowers, with bees and butterflies dancing among, showing a charming scene of the vast grassland together with the cattle and sheep all over the land.
Hemu Town is the northernmost town in western China, and Hemu Village under the jurisdiction of the town is the furthest and largest one of the only three existing famous Tuva villages (Hemu Village, Kanas Village and White khabarov Village). The village has a total area of 3,040km’ with more than 1,800 people, among whom, more than 1,400 are Mongolian Tuvans. They scatter on the mountain meadows, and keep the intact Tuva life and cultural traditions.
Hemu Village is quite beautiful with the unique natural scenery, and Hemu River flows from northeast to southwest, forming harmonious integration between the primeval village and the vast grassland.
The most beautiful scene in Kanas Region is the Hemu Grassland in autumn. At this time, it is completely a natural ecological scene with dyed forests showing their brightness. Viewing the snow-capped peaks where the sun rises in distance and the trickling streams nearby on the hillside around the village, you will feel that you are in a wonderland, and enjoy yourself so much as to forget to leave.
