Kunes Grassland
2 min readKunes Grassland refers to the mountain valley grassland with Kunes River System running through, and it is the typical distribution area of multi-type pastures in Ili. Most of the Kunes Grassland is located in Xinyuan County at an altitude of 800-2,084m.
Kunes Grassland is one of the famous grasslands in Xinjiang having a vast territory and numerous valleys. It is not only the hometown of Xinjiang fine wool sheep, but also an important producing area for Ili Tenma.
Kunes Grassland is rich in precipitation and developed water systems, and the types of grasslands are complicated with abundant water and grass resources at all seasons. There are a variety of plants especially in mountain meadows in middle mountain belt and subalpine meadows of a higher elevation.
June to September each year is the golden season of the grassland; the vast grassland, beautiful mountains, flocks of cattle and sheep, and the dotted yurts form the life circle of the grassland in summer. It is just like multicolored carpet, with a green background, silver edge and colorful bands, looking even more gorgeous and magnificent under the blue sky. The snow-capped peaks stand around the grassland, forming a beautiful scene together with the blossoming dow, lush spruce forest, the silvery and murmuring rivers, and the gurgling springs. Every now and then, there are foxes, marmots, wild boars,and snow cocks, etc., haunting in the forest and the grass.
In every summer, a great number of tourists from home and abroad will come and experience the beautiful scenery of grasslands of and the rich national custom.
