1 min readIn The Grand Dictionary of the Chinese Language, HuaXia and China are synonymous. In fact, Huaxia is a bit similar to “Great Britain”, because Hua signifies splendour and powerful civilization, and Xia will hark back to the beginning of Chinese civilization-Xia, Shang and Zhou times, among which Xia is the First Dynasty (C2070-1600 BC), when ancient people ople claimed themselves aes as “HuaXia”. As in the interpretation given by the Dictionary, ancient HuaXia tribes lived in the Yellow River Basin area that ranked as the world’s centre where culture developed over a long period of time. As a result, the combination of two words “Hua” and “Xia” has the connotation of the national territory.and from ancient times to the present there has been the interpretation of HuaXia meaning China, and HuaXia civilization meaning the civilization of China.
