Lijiang is an area clustered with 12 different ethnic groups who account for 57.4%of the total population.The San Duo Festival（sanduo jie），usually in early-March，is a traditional Naxi festival when the Naxi go horseracing，perform the alili dance and have a good time.People flood to the Yufeng Temple to take in the famous wanduo chahua，a Camellia tree-related to tea trees-that’s reputedly over 500 years old and blooms with over 10，000 blossoms.The Bangbang Festival（bangbang jie），usually in mid-February，sees horseracing and market fairs.
It’s a good idea to hire a guide when hiking at Jade Dragon Snow Mountain（yulongxueshan）.Proper hiking equipment，enough food and water，sunglasses to prevent snow blindness and warm clothes are necessary.Be aware that night temperatures are extremely low.Binoculars are useful to view the snowy scenery.
