The Sugong Tower is also called”Emin Minaret”,built in 1777 and located in Munag Village about 2km east of today’s Turpan City.The Sugong Tower is not only the largest old minaret existing in Xinjiang,but also the only old minaret of Islamic style among one hundred famous towers in China.It has ahistory of over 200 years till now.The Sugong Tower was built by Sulayman,the second son of Eein Hoja who was a famous general of the Qing Dynasty in order to commemorate the contribution of Eein Hoja and express the loyalty to the Qing Dynasty.Sulayman himself paid 7,000 liang of silver for building the Sugong Tower.The Sugong Tower is 44m high with the diameter at the bottom being 10m.The Minaret is conical with the top being larger than thebottom.A vertical column gradually shrinking upwards in a spiral manner to the minaret top is in the center of the minaret,and there are 72 steps in total.

The minaret belongs to a brick-wood structure.There are 14 windows in different directions at different heights.Geometric patterns outside the minaret have 15 varieties. It can be said that geometric patterns are exquisite and fantastic. As one of the famous scenic spots in Turpan, the Sugong Tower is unique, solemn and elegant and full of the Islamic style. In 1961, the Sugong Tower went through the test of 12-level big wind, and it was still in safety. In order to prevent accidents and protect the ancient minaret appropriately, the Sugong Tower has been fixed by three iron hoops outside.

In 1985, the Sugong Tower was listed as the national key relic protection site.
