When Beihai Meets Beihai
1 min read“When Beihai meets Beihai”, a cultural promotion innovated jointly by the Information Office of the state council and the information office of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, was unveiled at Beihai Park in Beijing on July 8, 2016. The event was also part of the “Belt and Road”endeavours of the Beihaicity government.
Beihai was one of the key ports along ancient China’s Silk Road on the Sea route, and was one of the country’s first 14 cities to open up to international trade. Moreover, the city boasts an array of scenic spots that place it amongst the country’s most coveted sea resorts. The city’s pearl industry dates back some 3000 years ,hence Beihai’s reputation as a “Pearl City”, andindeed the magnificent trongly in the cityscape of today’s Beihai. President Xi’s “Belt and Road” vision gave the city a golden opportunity to restore itself to its former marine glory and play a bridging role in the trade communication between China and the other countries in ASEAN.
When Beihaimeets Behai” looks set to extend its seafaring legacy to countries such as Japan, Russia and the UK in the near future.
