Xibaipo Red Tourism
4 min readXibaipo is located in Pingshan County，hebei Province.It was once the location of the CPC Central Committee and the headquarters of the pla and is now one of the most famous destinations in the country on the red Tourist.
Xibaipo is a small mountain village on the north bank of the Hutuo River in the mountains in western Hebei.The scenery is beautiful and the soil is fertile here.The village is located in the center of Pingshan County nestled between the north China plains and Taihang Mountain.Xibaipo was selected to be the command center for the liberation of the entire country and planning for the establishment of New China.it enjoys unique geographical conditions and natural environment plus a revolutionary base and political strength built up over many years.It is surrounded by mountains on three sides and bywater on the fourth.To the west is taihang Mountain，to the east is the Central hebeiPlains and only g0 kilometers away is the important city of shijiazhuang it is an easylace to get to，easy to defend and hard to attack，a good mountain retreat in times of crisis and a good base from which to attack the city when the time was right.The fairly well developed rural economy of the area ensured adequate economic support for both the army and the people and provided the material base for locating the Central committee there.
The Central Committee was only located in Xibaipo for 10 months，but this period was a brilliant chapter in the annals of the Chinese revolution For this reason，along with Jinggang Mountain，Ruijin and Yan an，it is considered one the birthplaces of the revolution.The time the Central committee was located in the village marked a turn in the great history of the Chinese revolution as well as the most successful time in the course of the communist democratic revolution.The new-democratic revolution led by the central Committee gained nationwide victory during this time，opening the way for the party to switch the focus of their efforts from the countryside to the cities and from warfare to development，and to begin the change from new democracy to socialism Farmers Park.
Ground was broken for the Xibaipo memorial Museum in 1976 to cover a total area of 13，400 square meters with a floor space of 3，344 square meters.The museum is built is the form of a two-story step-style courtyard dwelling and a corridor runs around all four sides of the courtyard.The museum s exhibits are combined with the latest audio-visual equipment to show Xibaipo s position in history and far-reaching influence in a concise way.The museum is divided into four educational areas or sightseeing sites，Former Site ofthe Central Committee，Exhibit of Relics，Park of calligraphy and carvings，and Traditional Education Project.The Former Site of the Central committee contains the residences of mao Zedong，Liu Shaoqi，Zhou Enlai and Ren Bishi and the site of the headquarters of the PLa.
Between the front and back courtyards is the site of the Second Plenary Session of theSeventh Central Committee.In the westernmost part of the courtyard is the site of the September 1948 meeting of the Central Committee.
As everyone knows，”old revolutionary base area is almost synonymous with”lagged-behind area，and Xibaipo also went through such a period in its history.In recent years however，the people of Xibaipo have been making increasingly steady and sound progress in restructuring local agriculture and improving their lives，relying on the area s excellent geographical conditions and unique political strength and strong efforts to develop pastoral tourism and red tourism.all 67 households in the village have built new houses and greatly improved their living conditions.There are now 64 bed and breakfast inns andtourist hotels operating in the village involving 95%of the village residents.There are bed and breakfast inns that can handle a total of 400 guests and 15 home-cooked country cuisine restaurants that can handle 500 diners at a time.Everyone in the village，with the exception of a few senior citizens and children in school，is involved in the tourist and service trades.Including people from outside the area，there are over 200 people involvedin providing in-home tourist services with an average yearly income of 4，7ll yuan.”Every household has a project，every body has a job is a vivid description of Xibaipo today The residents of Xibaipo collectively set up a pollution-free vegetable production plot covering 18 mu in order to accelerate the development of pastoral tourism.This plot produces a total income of 180，000 yuan and more per year.The total income from tourism and services in all of Xibaipo in 2005 topped 1.3 million yuan.
Todays xibaipo，with its crisscrossing streams，rows of poplar trees and beautiful environment attracts hordes of visitors to the village.
