Located in Hala Village, Ya’ ersai Town in the Meilisi district of Qiqihar is a tahur village with a long history. In the past, the villagers toiled from sunrise to sunset on an average of 2.5 mu per person, always hoping for better times, but always reaping poverty.
In 1998 a major flood on the Nenjiang River destroyed their fields and changed their reluctance to abandon their reliance on agriculture With the financial assistance of the National committee of the chinese people s Political Consultative Conference and the National Charity Association of China, the nextyear they rebuilt the village into a modern new village, giving the villagers a beautiful new home. The village was divided into four residential areas with a common style in natural distribution. of the 300 households in the village, 182 are Tahur households. The total population is 1, 036, of which 70% are tahur. This is the new tahur village with a pronounced Tahur character.
In order to solve the problem of unsanitary and unsightly conditions caused by raising cattle and sheep, in the fall of 2001, the village built two high-standard cattle barns with 1, 500 square meters of floor space to centralize all livestock breeding in the illage. Then in 2002, the village built a plant to turn large quantities of straw waste into gas, which also solved the problem of piles of straw chaff littering the environment The villagers organized an ethnic dance troupe especially to promote ethnic culture. The troupe often performs in the village and is sometimes invited to perform outside the area and their performances are loved by villagers and tourists alike.

Hala New Village is now taking great strides to improve its ecological environment and trengthen its ethnic character.People work hard to make the village more modern and sophisticated and improve conditions for tourism.
