“Zhanian Bodon”-song and dance performance

refers to the six-stringed plucked instrument,”Bo”refers to dance in Nyingchi and “Don”means beating or dancing. In the olden days,a versatile folk dancer named Tempa Madeng Samdrup in the Kongpo area created the unique folk song and dance form of Nyingchi by adding the Zhanian of the Kongpo area into the local dance.
“Zhanian Bodon”is a collective song and dance performance at festivals. It has no limit to the number of performers, and is normally a male collective dance or a male and female collective dance. The performers form a semi-circle or a circle, and each male performer has a Zhanian for accompaniment. The feet movements of male and female performers are similar. They sing one after another and dance together,creating a warm atmosphere.Zhanian Tashi Gyalpo is the best representative of the song and dance culture of the Kongpo area and combines talking，singing and dancing.It creates fine and vivid descriptions of Zhanian.This program is staged by the new generation of artistic workers and is popular across a wide area.
The performance of”Gzhas”
“Gzhas”-singing and dancing using a three-stringed plucked instrument “Gzhas”in Tibetan is the transcription of”Xianzi”-a three-stringed plucked instrument.A representative traditional song and dance performance in Chamdo，it is named after the accompaniment of the stringed plucked instrument”Biwang.”
In the”Gzhas”performance，male and female performers respectively form a semi-circle and eventually pan out into a full circle with the Biwang player（Gzhasben）at the head.The male performer leads the singing andthe female performers repeated the piece.They sing while dancing and move in a clockwise direction.The rhythm starts with adagio and changes into moderato and concludes with allegro.The lyrics of”Gzhas”mainly are high praises of the hometown，nature，scenic spots and historical sites，describing local customs and love between man and woman.It is rich in basic movements，with a light and relaxed style.
