Dancing and singing characteristics
1 min readTibetan opera has outstanding song and dance characteristics. Some specific roles have fixed-pattern movements. While performing, sometimes only a character sings dozens of lyrics and between the two singing sections there will be a section of dancing by all performers. The dance follows a rigid pattern with vibrant and bold movements, mostly left and right rotation movements.
The dance performance of Tibetan opera
The performers dance in a circle.
These reflects the dancing described in ancient books in Tibetan;”the upper body movements should be like lion movements, the waist movements are enchanting, the limb joints nimble, the muscle tendonmovements loose, the body posture gentle, the performance sentiment arrogant;the behavior should be slow like water and the limbs should be shivery.”And the female should”have gentle body posture,as nimble as having no bones, dancing gently as though having no bones in the waist;no hips when viewed from the back and no belly from the front.”
