1 min readThe earliest existing Tibetan sculptures would be the”Double-Beasts Pottery Ware”and the”Black Bean Pottery Cup”unearthed from the Karuo Site.In a bouffant and plump shape,the”Double-Beasts Pottery Ware”evokes a female body,symbolizing the worship of reproduction in a matriarchal clan society.The spiritual connotation obviously surpasses the use of the ware.In terms of the application of sculptural nomenclature,such as symbolism,abstraction and exaggeration,it shows unique characteristics and therefore becomes a mark of the 5,000-year Tibetan civilization on the snow-covered land.
In the 7th century,when Buddhism was introduced to Tibet,to meet the requirement for the establishment of monasteries and the promotion of and Buddhism,Tibetan Buddhism sculptures and paintings became popular.
Tibetan metal sculptures have a long history and great variety,mainly made of copper,gold and silver.Copper sculptures can be divided into cast copper and forged copper.
