Bridging The Gaps
1 min readIn 1999 a project to connect the archipelago and the mainland by building five ocean-spannin bridges kicked off in earnest. Fully complete and operational a number of years later, the resulting bridges allow the region to give full play to its unique resources of ports, tourism attractions and fishing industries. Moreover these impressive lifelines are, architecturally speaking, highly impressive works of engineering prowess. The marine dream of the Zhoushan archipelago region is dependant on this transport network, and as such their completion marked a giant leap forward in the area’s social and econd onomic progress.
These days, one can travel to Zhoushan from key Yangtze River Delta cities like Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo in a matter of hours, and believe you me, it’s a wonderful trip to embark on.
