Penglai, Ancient Town Guanyin Mountain-Dai Shan

The County of Daishan lies on the southern side of the Yangtze River Estuary and boasts rich deep water coastline resources. Also, it is only 17 nautical miles away from Shanghai International Shipping Center and 34 nautical miles from the City of Ningbo. It is an important part of the program that aims to strengthen Zhoushan’s shipping capacity. At the same time, the county is rich in resources in the area of sea fish, tidal power and wind power. The people of Daishan have built a China National Marine Fishery Museum, China Salt Industry Museum and China Typhoon Museum.

The County of Daishan has been nicknamed the Place of Heaven. In the Chinese classic Historical ecords(shi ji),XuFu took the order from the first Emperor of the Qin Dynasty and led a team of a place called Penglai Heaven Island to search for gods. Many people believe this legendary island to actuallybe Daishan County. Meanwhile, many local stories tell the tale of Xufu seeking or not, Dai Shan is a beautiful place. Many poets have been moved by its scenery.

The Mount of Moxin is the on Penglai Island, making it the best viewing spot around. At the top of the mounta:see countless islets and many clouds. This resembles the classical Chinese Paradise. In the moutain, there is also a temple named Ciyunjile Temple that was built during rule of Emperor Qianlong during the Qing Dynasty. The temple’s mountain location is majestic. The temple is part of thenation’s Buddism Culture, and draws many visitors each year.

The biggest Buddhist temple around however is Guanyin Mountain, which is located on Qushan Island. The island is not far away from Daishan Island and, according to records, was already prosperous during the Tang and Song Dynasty. Later, in the Ming and Qing Dynasty, it was unfortunately embargoed. Nevertheless it was still a living paradise. Islanders didn’t pay taxes and my was prosperous regardless.
