1 min readBy 2009, Guangxi had successfully hosted six China-ASEAN expos since 2004, the year that Nanning became the permanent base for the event. The Expo has established a platform for mutually beneficial coopration and development opportunities, serving as an economic accelerator for Guangxi and ASEAN countries. During the period 2003-2008, average trade volume between the two areas increased by 37% on an annual basis, making Guangxi one of China’s top provinces with the biggest trade growth with ASEAN nations. In 2008 Guangxi-ASEAN trade volume was among the top 10 trade records in China, ahead of all the central and western provinces, and the region’s 2009 export volume to ASEAN nations reached US$3.617 billion, an increase of 33%.
