Laibin

Communications The Guilin-Beihai Highway and Hunan-Guangxi Railway both come through the city. Flying time between Laibin and Nanning, Liuzhou and Guilin respectively is as little as 30 minutes, even the longest route taking only 90 minutes. The Hongshui and Liujiang rivers, key branches of the Pearl River, meet here, giving it ideal shipping conditions. Vessels 500-1, 000 tons can directly reach Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao. The length of the inland navigable channel is 347 km, and the annual handling capacity of the port is almost two million tons.

Tourism Jinxiu Yao Autonomous County is known as thehomeland of the Yao, and is home to the distinctive landscape of Mt. Shengtang and special customs includingman living with his in-laws marriageand climbing a mountain of swords or plunging into a sea of flames.

Other scenic attractions are the stunning gorge landscape of Baiya 100 cliffs) Grand Canyon in Wuxuan County, Huachi Hot Spring in Xiangzhou County, acclaimed as the No. One Hot Spring in Central-Southern China, and Chieftain Mo’s Office in Xincheng County which, dubbed the Forbidden City of the Zhuang, is under State-level protection.
