Almond Cream

250g almond paste or marzipan
250ml semi-skimmed milk
450ml(3/4 pint) water
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Using a food processor or blender for grinding almonds can make them taste bitter. But to save grinding by hand, use ready-made almond paste for this fragrant sweet dessert.
1. Break up the almond paste with your fingers. Combine it with the milk, water and vanilla extractin a medium-sized saucepan and simmer for 15 minutes.
2. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve. Serve in individual soup bowls or a large soup tureen. It can be served either hot or cold.
