Ancient City of White Water
1 min readAncient City of White Water is located in today’s Dabancheng district, about 90km away from Urumqi.
Baishuijian refers to the Baiyang River Valley of south Dabancheng, the throat of the Silk Road, being the ancient and modern traffic arteries of great military importance as recorded in many history books. It was called “Running-horse River”by Cen Shen,a famous poet of the Tang Dynasty.
According to historical records, this area was “close to the water depending on mountains”, and it had been set up as “White Water Town”for the needs of battles by the Tang Dynasty, playing the role of the political, economic and cultural center at that time.
