The bamboo area of Anji reaches to 100,000 mu. It holds the greatest number of bamboo in the country. The Great Sea of Bamboo as the outstanding scenery is located in the southern part of the County, which covers an area of 2,500 mu and it has become the most famous bamboo demonstration base in China. As the saying goes,”the bamboo from Anji takes the lead in quantity as well as in quality, but the best comes from Great Sea of Bamboo”. In recent years, with the rise of domestic eco-tourism, Great Sea of Bamboo attracts more and more tourists, and the number of visitors goes up continuously. It has become the most popular and largest eco-tourism site with bamboo culture in Southeast China.

Tourists can pay their visits to the Memorial Garden where the oldest bamboo kings that grew up in different times are displayed, and the young bamboo kings in the garden can be touched with one’s own hands. The greatest Bamboo King with the diameter of 0.7 metres wins every tourist’s admiration. Tourists must marvel at the natural picture of green bamboo stretching so far along theundulate mountains. For an instance, the Great Sea of Bamboo was featured in a popular legendary film Crouching Tiger; Hidden Dragon, which in Chinese means a place where some chivalrous men with uncommon abilities lived. The film was awarded four honours of Oscar. From then on, more and more outdoor shootings were taken there by directors, and the films make Great Sea of Bamboo widely known.
