Brief Introduction to Nanchang
3 min readNanchang, the capital city of Jiangxi Province, lies in the lower reaches of Ganjiang River and Fuhe River, facing Poyang Lake. There are lots of mountains, hills and plains in the area of Nanchang. It is a time-honored city with revolutionary traditions in southem China.
Built in 202 BC, Nanchang has a history of over 2200 years. In the past, it used to be the seat of Nanchang Prefecture and Nanchang Administrative Division. Now as the senter of Jiangxi’s politics, economy, culture and science & technology, it is the capital of Jiangxi Province. With the area of 7402.36 square kilometers and the population of 4.6 million, the city has become one of the 35 biggest cities in China.
There arefour counties(Nanchang, Xinjian, Jinxian, and Anyi), five districts(East Lake, West lake, Qingyunpu, Qingshan Iake, and Wanli), two national development zones(Nanchang High-tech Industry Development Zone and Nanchang Economic and Technological Development Zone), and a new district (Honggutan New District) under the Nanchang Municipal Government’s administration.

The Beijing-Kowloon Railway and the Zhe-Gan Railway meet in Nanchang and three national expressways go through the city. Ganjiang River running through Poyang Lake flows into the sea.
Railways, expressways, rivers, and the Northern Nanchang Intemational Airport have formed the three-dimensional transport network, which has upgraded Nanchang’s pusition as a transportation hub.
Nanchang’s climate is humid and mild. As a subtropical region, it has plenty of rainfall with four distinctive seasons.
