Brief Introduction to Yingtan
3 min readYingtan,a city with Guixi City, Yujiang County, Yuehu District and Longhu Mountain Scenery & Tourism Administration under its jurisdiction, is located in the northeast part of Jiangxi Province in China. Its total population and area amount to 1.2 million and 3,554 square kilometers, respectively.
Yingtan is an important traffic hub in the south of the Yangtze River in China. It backs against the hinterland of Jiangxi, facing the Yangtze River Delta and the Golden Triangle of Southern Fujian. It is a communication hub from the hinterland to the southeast coastal area and the western area. Railways, highways and waterways here lead in all directions and form a network. Three trunk railways of Zhejiang-Jiangxi Line, Yingtan-Xiamen Line and Anhui-Jiangxi Line join here. State RoadNo.320 and 206, Highways from Shanghai to Ruili and from Dongying in Shandong Province to Jiulong in Hongkong which is under construction, also intersect in it, forming a beautiful”#”. Waterway traffic here is quite convenient too. Ships can sail along Xinjiang River, go downstream into Poyang Lake and reach different placesalong Yangtze River. Along the Highway from Shanghai to Ruili, it takes only one hour and a half by car from downtown to Changbei Airport.
Yingtan is rich in mineral resources. There are more than 30 kinds of minerals here, such as noble metal, non-ferrous metal, nonmetal, porcelain clay, silica, rare-earth mineral, mineral water, oil and gas resources, and so on. Of which the prospective reserve of silver mineral in Guixi Lengshui Silver Mine, now the largest silver mine in China, totals 40 million tons. Based on this advantage, it has become a developing capital of copper, the largest base for copper smelting in China. Jiangxi Copper Group, lying in Yingtan, the largest base for copper smelting in Asia, has edged itself into the five most powerful ones in the world with an annual output of 450 thousand tons in electrolytic copper,12 tons in gold,220 tons in silver,1.1 million tons in vitriol. In addition, it is also a developing base for energy and chemical industry. Guixi Thermal Power Plant, one of the main power plants invested by Chinese Power Plant，is an enterprise with its total installed capacity of 500MW.
Guixi Chemical Fertilizer Plant is one of the four major producers of ammonium phosphate based compound fertilizer in China.What’s more，some key high standard，high-tech and high return local-enterprises have been started.The governnent is giving plenty of effort to develop its industry，and the investment environment has been well improved.With the improvement of transportation，electric power，water supply and other infrastructure，Yingtan has become the ideal place of foreign investments.In 2005，Yingtan gained the fame of the best investment city in Zhejiang.
In the meantime，the government is trying to optimize the structure of economy.
They are paying more and more attention to the tourism development.In the recent years，tourism has developed rapidly and Yingtan gained the fame of China Top Tour City in 2005.Last year，the tourism income was RMB 1，180，000，000 increased by 34%，which takes 10%of the gross product.The number of tourists received is rising（the number of annual domestic tourists is 500，000 and the number of annual overseas tourists is 35，000），which enhances transportation，telecommunication，food serving and other related industry.There are seven three-star hotels and 32 travel agencies.
Yingtan is a rising tour city with abundant tour resources.Purple hills are surrounded by crystal water；odd stones hide in the thick forest；waterfalls are pouring from the green mountains；migratory birds mirror the scenery of lake；Taoism，Confucius and Buddhism get compatible and inclusive with each other；the customs are glittering.Longhu Mountain Scenery and Tourism Administration is the most famous scenic area in Yingtan.With green hills and clear water，it is pregnant with beauty and productive of talent and has long been known as the“Dwelling of the Immortals and Fairy Land on the Earth”.Moreover，Mount Yingtan，Hongwu Lake，White Crane Lake and other spots are also very beautiful areas.
