Chengde Imperial Summer Resort
2 min readThe Mountain Resort in Chengde,is a large complex of imperial palaces and gardens located in Chengde in Hebei,China.Due to its huge and rich collection of Chinese landscapes and architecture,the Mountain Resort in lots of ways is an apex of all the variety of gardens,pagodas,temples and palaces from various regions of China.Built between 1703 and 1792 during the Qing Dynasty,it took 89 years to finish.The whole palace occupies an area of 5.6 square kilometers,almost half of Chengde’s urban area.Temples of various architectural styles and imperial gardensblend harmoniously into a landscape of lakes,pastureland and forests.The Mountain Resort is the most known for its 72 scenic spots which were named by the Kangxi and Qianlong emperors.A plenty of scenic spots around the resort’s lake area were copied from famous gardens in southern China.For example,the main building on theGreen Lotus Island,“Tower of Mist and Rain”,is modeled upon a tower in Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing,Zhejiang Province.

From Chengde Railway Station,Commuter Bus Hub Station:Take bus No.5.
From Chengde Railway Station:Take Bus No.7,11,or 15 to the Mountain Resort.
Take a taxi at a cost within¥10.
From Beijing:
Take the Beijing-Chengde regional bus,which departs from the center of Beijing every 10 minutes.
Take train No.211 to Chengde,which takes about 4 hours.
