Chongzuo

Economy Chongzuo is renowned as China’s City of Sugar and City of Manganese.

Its annual sugar output is 2.6 million tons 19% of the national total and 28% of Guangxi’s total.ranking first in both cases. The verified reserves of manganese mines are 1, 380 million tons,representing 62.73% of the Guangxi’s total and 19% of the national total, ranking first in China.

 Communications The downtown area of Chongzuo is 97 km from the regional capital Nanning, and 80 km from the border with Vietnam at Friendship Pass (Friendship Pass is 170 km from the Vietnamese capital Hanoi). The highway from Nanning to the Friendship Pass runs through Chongzuo and connects with Vietnam’s Highway 1 at the Friendship Pass. The Hunan-Guangxi Railway passes through too, and Hanoi-Beijing-Mo international rail freight must also come this way.

Tourism The Detian Waterfall in Daxin County, the widest cross-border waterfall in Asia; the Huashan cliff paintings in Ningming County, on the preparatory list of World Cultural Heritage; the Friendship Pass in Pingxiang, one the nine most famous passes in China; the Mingshi Scenic Area in Daxin County, featured on a Chinese stamp; Nongguan Ecological Park in Chongzuo, the home of rare white-headed langurs; Guilong Leaning Pagoda in Chongzuo, one of the world’s top eight leaning towers; and the Greater and Lesser Liancheng Wall, the Great Wall on the Southern Border. Relics of the Great Victory of Zhennan Pass the ancient fort at the border pass, the French consulate, and the Qing Dynasty 10, 000-Martyr Tombs reflect China’s resistance to invasion by the French.
