Confucianism

Confucianism is the cornerstone of traditional Chinese culture.It has dominated the feudal society and even today’s China for about 2，000 years and therefore has an enduring shaping influence over the history，social structure and people of China.In fact，Confucianism developed a rather fixed series of rituals and ceremonies with religious features and some Confucian concepts are also mystified with religious colour；in Confucian schools of idealist philosophy of the Song and Ming Dynasties，the philosophy of “upholding justice and annihilating desire” had an evident trend of religious asceticism.It is，to a large extent，an ideological system，stressing ethical，moral and social values，and more a philosophy than a religion，but somehow for Chinese people it enjoys the status of some sort of“state religion，”an orthodox doctrine.
