Copper Drum Mountain
2 min readWelcome to the first mountain in Eastern Hainan，Copper Drum Mountain，and it is 4 kilometers east to Longlou Town in Wenchang City.I’m glad to serve as your tour guide today.The Copper Drum Mountain is quite spectacular with many unique and bizarre landscape as well as interesting legends.The mountain has been one of the most famous mountains since ancient times.It issaid that during the Eastern Han Dynasty，the famous Fubo General established a base here，leaving behind a copper drum that was later dug out by the locals，hence this mountain got its name.
The Copper Drum Mountain spreads more than ten li with two peaks opposite，the main one of which is 338 meters above sea level and the height of the second one is 241 meters.The mountain looks like a tiger defending thesouthern frontier or a dragon jumping from the sea.The top of the mountain is usually enveloped in the clouds and moisture，and the climate is pleasant and just like spring all year round.Among all the picturesque rocks，the”Wind-Blown Rock”sitting at the top of the highest peak is the most splendid and spectacular.With the upper half round and lower half sharp，about 3 meters tall and 4meters wide，the rock weighs more than 20 tons and hangs above two cornerstones.It moves slightly but never falls however powerfully pushed and whistles and sways slightly while the sea wind blows.Thousands of years passed，and no matter how many typhoons there have been and how strong the typhoons were，the rock still stands there firmly and never falls.That’s why it s so famous today.
In addition，there are”Nun Cave”，”Immortal Cave”，”Embracing-the-Sky Lake”，”Hawk Rock”，”Silver Snake Head”，”Stone Monkey”，”Gold Tortoise”，etc.At the top of the Copper Drum Mountain，it’s fun to enjoy thescenery of mountain and sea.To the east is the blue South Sea，with fishing boat coming and going，sea gulls flying and waves shining in the sunshine.To the north，there is Baoling River just like a ribbon gently flowing into the sea and silvery beach winding endlessly.In the inland，located west of the mountain，there are villages shadowed in the coconut forest.At the southwestern foot ofthe mountain is a piece of grassland with picturesque rocks dotted on it which number 3，650 exactly.Overlooked far away，they seem to be a flock of sheep，some are grazing，some are watching the clouds，some are turning around for companion，and some are chasing，which is the famous sight of Perpetually Tending Sheep picture.There is a Yunlong Bay which is like a crescent moon at the east foot of the mountain.Inside the bay，the wave is calm，and coconut trees are dense.Outside there is the vast Qizhouyang，also the Seven-IslandArchipelago to the northeast.The color of water is the same as sky，and the enery is brilliant.
