Cultural exchange in modern China
2 min readThe modern era has seen an influx of progressive Western culture into China, giving rise to major changes in Chinese society. At the same time, the Chinese people have demonstrated their spirit of self-reliance, diligence, and practicality, drawing from the full range of modern culture to rapidly improve and develop their country.
Cultural exchange between China and all the countries of the world is flourishing in areas including art exhibitions, performances, publishing, games, film and television. Numerous artistic groups, including national-level performing groups such as the Chinese National Symphony Orchestra, provincial and municipal acrobatic troupes, and regional traditional opera companies, have toured in Europe and North and South Americas, introducing both classical and modern Chinese music, opera, and acrobatics to the world. At the same time, many internationally famous artistic groups and musicians have been invited to perform in China, bringing the classical and modern art forms of their countries to the Chinese people.
With the growth of the Chinese economy and tourist industry, the number of Chinese citizens engaging in international travel has increased rapidly. In 2010 alone, there were over50 million border exits from China, and over 26,126,900 border entries.
The people of China are emerging into the world, seeing other countries with their own eyes, and personally experiencing foreign cultures. An even greater number of foreign tourists are visiting China, where they are able to experience first hand the fascinating culture of this ancient land, as it comes to life in the warm welcome and hospitality extended by the Chinese people.
