Cultural Garden of Ancient Fangfeng State
2 min readAbout 4,000 years ago, there was a tribe between Feng and Yu mountains(located at Sanhe Township today) in the southern area of the Yangtze River, Because of Fangfeng who succeeded in controlling floods, he was specially granted Feng and Yu mountains by Great Yu, and was conferred the title”King of Fangfeng”.
From then on, an ancient state was established, which had a circumference of hundred square kilometers. He and his members created the splendid ancient civilization. He is the onlyprehistoric ancestor recorded in the history of the southern area of the Yangtze River. The remains of ancient culture of Fangfeng state include Fangfeng Statue, Fangfeng Shrine, Ancient Caves and Steles. The local government is making a systematic investment and study of the ancient culture of Fangfeng state. The ancient constructions are under repair and renovation now.
Cultural Garden of Ancient Fangfeng State is located at the former site of Fangfeng state next to Xiazhu Lake, occupying an area of 300 mu. The cultural garden represents the scenes of daily life, historical culture, politics and military affairs in the ancient Fangfeng State. The stone caves and wooden houses in the garden reveal the living conditions and social culture 4,000 years ago. Bamboo Forests Maze, Blue Dragon Pool, Hundred-foot Cliff, Watching Tower, and various traps reflect the smart military defences and the defensive techniques of the ancient men.
The sacrificial altar shows the religious belief and activities of the ancient state. Tourists can find the imitations of ancient articles, handicrafts, ceramic workshops and jade workshops. Tourists can see that the handicraft skills of the Fangfeng people at that time were quite perfect. Cultural Garden of Ancient Fangfeng State combines Fangfeng culture, natural scenery and religious culture together. It is characterized by primitive simplicity and mystery. Visitors are able to seek and come into contact with the ancient civilization of China.
