Deluxe
2 min readSet over 5 floors, including a subterranean swimming pool that, despite being underground, still enjoys views of the lavish rear garden and rockery thanks to some neat excavation work, the resort is flawless from top to bottom, with each nook and cranny radiating stylistic flair and cultural import. From the modern, farmhouse style open-plan kitchen to the outdoor, rooftop mosaic bathtub, riches await Walden’s guests on every floor, modern amenities that are at all times enshrouded in the intoxicating beauty of the surrounding habitat’s natural beauty. Tellingly, the fact that the resort’s owners decided to include bookstore at the heart of the hotel speaks volumes about the kind of customers they wish to attract: namely, literate, bookish folk who appreciate the serenity of nature the value of honest-to-goodness country air and long, unbroken periods of golden silence. That’s not to say that the wee ones aren’t welcome however, far from it in fact, as a couple of the hotel’s more deluxe rooms feature kiddie corners-and even children’s rooms- that are guaranteed to make your rugrat’s faces light up brighter than an Griswold family Christmas tree.
More than anything else, Walden Resort-despite its luxurious rooms full of allmod-con and stylish yper modern interiors-is at pains to fit in to the environment, and in many ways this is the real ace up the hotel’s sleeve: eye-catching without being flashy, modern without being ignorant of the past, rward thinking without being dismissive, Walden Resort has integrated itself into the naturalt, and love letters to this particularly fetching corner of Deqing-and shen, the village in which the resort sits- can be found throughout. From the hotel’s menu to the funny looking old farmer’s bath sat in the corner of Walden’s absorbing, sun-unge, Walden Resort is in many ways a tribute to the endless charms of Deqing County.
