5 min readThere is a model of rapid development in Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone, which immerged in August 25, 1994.
The zone has three most significant characteristics, which are furthest from the coast, the latest approved by the State Council, and the largest statelevel- economic and technological development zone in northwestern China.
19 years have passed, Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone has gathered five kinds of system structures of administrative region, state-level economic and technological development zone, state-level export processing zone, corps and locality unified development area, and economic cooperation zone, fusing together the high-end business district, overseas students pioneer park, Xinjiang software park, technology business incubator, university science and technology industrial park, vocational education park, core area of high-speed- railway, and railway international logistics park, and so on.
The entire zone is just like a colorful garden, and it will make you instantly suspect whether it is a tourist attraction. The local residents have a profound understanding of the “big change” of the zone in the ten or more years of its development. In the past, it was a barren mountain, but now the soil has become gold bricks, and the zone is sending out boundless vitality. Walking along the wide Central Asia Avenue, you will not see the cement forest, or hear any noise, but will find many types of scenery that light up your eyes. The entire zone is a city within another city with complete supporting facilities. In addition to the people who live here who enjoy the city, foreign tourists are often guided to tour the zone by tour guides. Many people regard this zone as the “Little Hong Kong of Xinjiang”.
Peking Universiy inang Science and echnology Park n Urumqi Economic and Technologic Development Zone There are group of magnificent antique buildings-Peking University Xinjiang Science and Technology Park-at the science and Technology Street of the zone, those buildings are decorated with red walls, green tiles, cornices, and brackets. There are huge green belts and modernist sculptures in front of the Science and Technology Park, both ancient, modern, and spectacular. There is also a famous Satellite Square at the center, with the theme sculpture higher than 20 meters taking the form of flying satellite overlooking the Square of 50,000 square meters, and the grape corridor 1,880 meters long. In midsummer, the grape corridor is luxuriously green in the daytime, and becomes colorful at night, full of dreamy feeling, and it will make you completely relaxed and happy. There is the best desert oasis health spa in China, a gymnasium, and an underground shooting range of international standard around the square.
We cannot be confused by the appearance of the Zone, for this is not a large garden, nor tourist attraction, but a multi-function comprehensive park collecting major industries and well-known enterprises.
At present, the zone has formed four leading industries of automobile manufacturing, mechanical equipment, new building materials and modern logistics; and four newly developing industries of new coal chemical industry, information engineering, biological medicine, and new materials; and on this basis, Xinjiang has built seven major bases of the headquarter base of Chuangzhi commerce, the largest food and beverage processing base in Xinjiang, the largest metallurgical industry base in north western China, the emerging automobile and engineering machinery manufacturing base in north western China, the largest wind power equipment manufacturir base in China, the software information industry base facing central Asia, and the international trade logistics and export processing base facing Asia and Europe.
There are more than 3,800 registered companies in the zone, among which, 40 foreign enterprises, 17 “Fortune Global 500” and 30 “top 500 enterprises of China” have invested in the production projects. Namely, the leading wind power equipment manufacturing enterprise in China-Goldwind Science and Technology and the largest steel enterprise in Xinjiang-Xinjiang Bayi Iron Steel of the Bao-steel Group, and many other famous brands at home and abroad, such as CNHTC, Sany Heavy Industry, Shanghai Volkswagen,Dongfeng Automobile, Coca-Cola, Master Kong, Hongyun Tobacco, and Conch Profiles.
Model street in Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone In Xinjiang, various types of industrial parks are aiming to develop the garden type factories besides the economic and technological development zones, and Xinjiang has developed many industrial systems such as chemical industry, non-ferrous, building materials, light industry, textiles, and equipment manufacturing relying on the abundant natural resources and unique product resources of farming, avocation and animal husbandry.
Since the first industrial park in Xinjiang (Urumqi High-tech Industrial Development Zone)built in 1992, the overall strength of industrial parks in Xinjiang has been significantly enhanced, gradually becoming a growth pole.
By the end of 2012, a total of 78 various types of economic parks had been established in Xinjiang, the industrial agglomeration effect had gradually appeared with all industries tending to enter the parks. Many parks had been built relying on local resources to actively explore the development patterns of parks built by government, trade associations, enterprises, and the society, such as the heavy chemical industry parks of Kuitun-Dushanzi Petrochemical Industrial Park, and Kuche Petrochemical Park; characteristic resources industrial parks with Shihezi Economic Development Zone and Fuyun Mining Industry Industrial Park as the representatives; the supporting industrial parks of introducing projects from the mainland and undertaking industrial transfer with Jiangsu industrial park and Qilu ndustrial Park as he representativ Export processing zones with Khorgos international border cooperation center and Urumqi export processing zone as the representatives; and the logistics parks built relying on the major transportation thoroughfares, transportation hubs, and various types of ports.
In many of the industrial parks, achieving records one after another proudly show the takeoff of the industry in Xingjiang. The largest boride series products production base in china is located in the Zepu Industrial Park of Kashgar, the largest and most professional BDO Fine Chemical Industry Park is in Korla Economic and Technological Development Zone (BDO is 1,4-butanediol, an important organic and fine chemical raw material, is widely used in pharmaceutical, textile, automobile manufacturing, household chemicals and other areas) and the world’s largest potassium sulfate production base will be built in Lop Nor saline industrial park…
