1 min readThe Gordon Hill Tablet Merits is located on the Gordon Hill, east bank of the Sumubai River, west of Zhaosu County, Kazak Autonomous Prefecture of li.
In February of Qing Qianlong Twentieth Year(1755 AD), Ban Di and Yongchang were dispatched by the Qing Dynasty to lead two forces to squashthe rebellion caused by the Junggar’s leader Dawats. After the Qing Dynasty army arrived in Ili, Dawats fled to the Gordon Hill. On the evening of the May 14th, the Qing Dynasty army of 22 people gave a surprising attack to theDawats army, and troops of Dawats were collapsed.
More than 500 riders ofDawats surrendered, and the Qing Dynasty army calmed down the north part of the Mt. Tianshan. After the battle, the Qing Dynasty army set the Memorial Tablet. The tablet inscription was made by the Emperor Qianlong, recordingthe process of the battle in four languages including Manchu scripts, Han scripts, Mongolian scripts and Tibetan scripts.
