1 min read

The lush Bayinbuluke Grassland raised numerous nomadic nations. As far back as 2,600 years ago, Gushi people lived here. In 1776, the 170,000 people of Oirat Mongolian Turhute Tribe went back to the east from the Volga River basin in Russia under the leadership of Ubashi Khan, who were warmly received by Emperor Qianlong of Qing (1711 to 1799). And then Emperor Qianlong granted the vast and fertile Bayinbuluke Grassland to the Turhute Tribe. For centuries, the descendants of Turhute Tribe have lived and reproduced here, and Bayinbuluke Grassland has become their beautiful home and sacred paradise.

In order to commemorate the orient return, on June 4 to June 6 of the lunar calendar, people will dress in costumes and gather on Bayinbuluke Grassland from all around to participate in the annual Naadam festival which is grand ceremony on the grassland, originating from the Turhute traditional festival-Tagal- Festival”Tagaleng”is the “Oboo”(Yurt) for Turhute Mongolian to offer sacrifice, so this festival is Oboo Ritual Festival. At the appointed time, Turhute people will bring prayer flags, hang the strips of cloth on the branches around the obo, and chant sutras to pray for serene mountains, the thriving of people and livestock, and happiness and prosperity. There are also the cultural activities such as horse racing and archery, and commodity exchanges, all of which will make people dizzying and they will linger on without any thought of leaving.
