Hot Wax Therapy

2 min read

One of the better therapies for arthritis is hot wax therapy. By dunking your hand or feet into a large vat of heated, near-liquid wax, the hot wax envelops the body part. This hot wax is very hot, not hot enough to burn or scald, but hot enough that the enveloping heat penetrates the muscles and maintains the heat for a long time as the wax cools and hardens around the hand or foot. The wax also has cosmetic benefits of smoothing the skin and can promote the removal of scar tissue and even reduce the sign of wrinkles.

The heated wax therapy pools at Tanggangzi Hospital are used for arthritis and ski therapy.

Chinese massage is a great way to recuperate from stress and physical exertion.

Massage

What would a visit to a spa be without a massage? A medical treatment that is as synonymous with spas as relaxation itself. Chinese massage therapy has many styles for different treatments but relies on the same principle of stimulating the pressure points of the body. While many spa visitors are familiar with the different incarnations of massage, Swedish, Shiatsu and Thai, it is Chinese massage that is gaining a high level of medical study. That is not to say that it cannot be relaxing, as a TCM massage followed by a long soak in a hot spring is perhaps the essence of spa trip in China.

Fish Therapy

For many this type of therapy can seem a bit strange. Little fish nipping away at the dead skin on your feet is a popular therapy available at nearly all the hot springs in Liaoning.

The small fish don’t bite your feet but feel as if they are nibbling away at the dead skin around you heel and toes. The sensation is strange but the results-a fish pedicure so to speak-is effective in leaving your skin smooth and clean.
