Ningbo is a seaport city in the northeast of Zhejiang Province.As one of China’s oldest cities，it can date back to the Hemudu culture in 4800 BC.Ningbo，once known as Mingzhou，was a trade city on the Silk Road at least 2，000 years ago.
During the Xia Dynasty，Ningbo was called Yin. In the Tang Dynasty，Ningbo was one of the three major ports，with the other two being Yangzhou and Guangzhou（广州Afterwards，Ningbo served as one of the three major ports for foreign trade in the Song Dynasty.The other two were Guangzhou and Quanzhou.
In the Qing Dynasty，Ningbo was one of the five Chinese treaty ports opened by the Treaty of Nanjing at the end of the First Opium War between Britain and China.
Nowadays，Ningbo has become a well-known city loved by people from all over the world.
Introduction of Ningbo（Part Two-Geography and Climate）
Ningbo lies in the south of Hangzhou Bay.It faces the East China Sea to the east，and borders Shaoxing to the west and Taizhou to the south.There are 614 islands accounting for 255.9 square kilometers under the city’s administration.The coastline ofNingbo is 1，594.4 kilometers，including 835.8 kilometers of mainland coastline and 758.6 kilometers of island coastline.
Ningbo belongs to the subtropical monsoon climate which is temperate and moist.Ningbo has four distinct seasons.In Ningbo，the average temperature in the whole year is 16.4℃.
What is more，the lowest temperature can be 2℃ in January and the highest can be 33℃ in July.In the meantime，the annual average rainfall is 1，480 mm.And 60%of the rainfall is during May and June.
Introduction of Ningbo（Part Three-Economy）
Ningbo is an important port city.The city’s export industry can date back to the 7thcentury.Ningbo is a major exporter of many dimensions，including electrical products，textiles，food，industrial tools，etc.Moreover，the bustling downtown of Ningbo is Tianyi Square，a shopping complex owning nationwide fame.
In 2012，the total value of imports and exports in Ningbo is 197.58 billion dollars，1.4%down from last year.The total amount of the commodity sales of Ningbo in 2012 is up to 1，061.08 billion RMB，13.1%up from last year.The general income of the tourism industry is up to 86.28billion RMB，14.8%up from last year.
