Main attractions on the Irtysh River basin in Habahe County include: the largest white birch forest in the northwest, Akqi Meadow, Shankou power station, Qideharen Bridge, Qideharen Microlith Ruin, the North and South Bay of Irtysh River, Mingsha Mountain, China-Kazakhstan bounder river(Alakebieke River), Pasir Puteh, and Ahitubiek Port, etc Irtysh River basin is in continental cold climate zone of the North Temperate Zone, where it is windy in spring, very hot in summer, cool in autumn, cold and long in winter;the air is dry because of little rainfall and great evaporation, with rich sunshine and large difference in temperature.
Irtysh River is the only river in China which flows into the Arctic Ocean. The river valley is wide, water potential is vast and mighty, and its water yield is in the second place in Xinjiang, next only to Ili River. Clear water ripples, waterweeds grow thickly, crisscross footpaths between fields are linked, and trees make a pleasant shade.
Plants on both sides of Irtysh River valley and the river valley in Habahe County mainly include Populus canescens of Xinjiang, bitter poplar, and white birch, etc. The desert vegetation includes Haloxylon, Chinese tam se tamarisk, populus diversifolia, elaeagnus angustifolia, peachleaved willow, Crataegus cuneata, and Lying pine, etc.
The white birch forest is located on both banks of Haba River, one of the branches of Irtysh River. It is 5km in the west of Habahe County and the traffic is very convenient as a three-level asphalt road traverses the birch forest. The white birch forest is about 28km long and about 1.5km wide, becoming the largest natural white birch forest in northwestern China.
Currently, a birch forest holiday village has been built here to hold sightseeing events, including Arkin Playing and Singing, fishing, summer camp, and going on holiday, etc Meanwhile, there are also abundant snacks of ethnic flavor, giving tourists an opportunity to have real treat of the delicious food in the bosom of nature.
Irtysh River basin has beautiful and picturesque scenery all the year round, remains original natural style and features until today, and has become a famous scenic spot for tour and sightseeing.
