Jimsar Palette Town in xinjiang
2 min readThere is a multicolored world called Multicolored Bay or Palette Town being famous for grotesquery, mystery, and grandeur in a Gobi desert in the north of Jimsar County of Hui Autonomous Prefecture of Changji. For thousands of years, the thick coal seams have been formed owing to the crustal movements; after several vicissitudes, the stones covering the earth’s surface were corroded by wind and rain, resulting in the exposure of the coal seams which were burnt thoroughly under the impact of the lightning and the sun, and finally formed the grotesque and gaudy natural landscape The Multicolored Bay is just like a colorful modernist painting with a multicolored hill of up to 40m high standing there, like a quiet beauty facing to the east in a colorful dress. There is another peak a little lower standing beside in the very image of a girl; both of the hills are in the same color, and lean close to each other, as if they were waiting for their loved ones.
The landform here is undulate full of odd peaks and rocks in different shapes: some wind like pythons; some are as mighty as lions; some are as elegant as beautiful women; and some are as exquisite as the pagodas. They are so complicated and confusing that they make one dazzling. At dusk, looking afar by ascending height, you will see the entire Multicolored Bay looks like being ignited by the setting sun and you will come to waves of emotion and be in an upsurge.
