The vicissitudes of Doumen have been mirrored by the Jintai Temple. First built approximately 700 years ago by the remnants of the dying Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), the striking building in the style of ancient times with orange-colored roof tiles is a remake of the original temple site, located deep in the south foot of Huangyang Mountain, overlooking Yamen seaport and presenting a graceful, awe-inspiring sight. The locals believe the soul of Zhang Shijie, one of the’three generals of the late Southern Song”, rests near the temple’s original site.
