Jiujiang is located at the joint of Yangtze River and Beijing-Kowloon Railway. It meets with Hunan, Hubei and Anhui Provinces. Jiujiang is a famous city with a long history of over 2200 years. Jiuliang is one of the first five cities that open to the outside along the Yangtze River. It was awarded as the national excellent traveling city in 2000 and was honored as Chinese Charming City in 2004. As the northern gateway of Jiangxi Province, it is the only trading port open to foreign countries of Jiangxi Province, and also the first class national port open to the outside.

With a sub-tropical humid climate and four seasons distinctively separatd, Jiujiang City boasts plentiful sunshine and sufficient rainfall. It is one of China’s key bases of commodity grain, cotton, and oil as well as Jiangxi’s silk-making base.

With a fairly solid industrial foundation and a substantiai industrial potential, Jiujiang has an industrial system consisting of such pillar industries as petrochemical, textile & garment, metallurgy & building materials, auto making, electronics & electric power, and food procesing. It owns national class Jiujiang Petrochemical Plant, thebigest organic silicon production base in the country-Xinghuo Chemical Plant, the biggest foreign-funded enterprise in Jiangxi-the East Asia Cement Factory, and Jiujiang Chemical Fiber Factory, etc. Jiujiang has always been an important commercial port. Quite a few large trading markets have been founded, where thereare active business transactions. Having easy access to waterways, Jiujiang has a favorable transportation position and a tremendous potential for the development of the modern logistics.

Jiujiang has established 13 diferent development zones, including state-level Jiangxi Jiujiang Export Processing Zone, Jiujiang Economic & Technological Development Zone (provincial level) and Gongqing High Technology Zone (provincial level).

Jiuiiang Economic & Technological Development Zone was set up in July 1992 with the area of 120 square kilometers. It has a population of 120,000. Lying at the foot of Mount Lu，facing Yangtze River，surrounding Bali Lake，relying on the cityarea of Jiujiang，it has boundless future，with lovely natural scenery，convenient transportation.It is one of the first development zones of Jiangxi Province，puts emphasis on industry which is mainly comprehensive on industry，export，science research and logistics，which is devoted to developing advanced new technology.The administrative committee of the Zone represents the government of Jiujiang City to manage and deal with problems，provide service in the zone.

According to the planning and thinking on development of“one district several parks，one district several systems，and making it bigger and stronger”，the zone sets up Advanced New Technology Zone，Business Trading Zone，National Class Export Processing Zone，Petrochemical Industrial Park，Comprehensive Industrial Park，Auto Mobil Industrial Park，and Chemical Fiber Park，etc.

Jiujiang Comprehensive Industrial Park is situated at the foot of Mount Lu.The planned area of the park is 15 square kilometers.Nanchang-Jiujiang Highway passes through the park.The park is 10 kilometers away to the north of Yangtze River，3 kilometers away to the east of Beijing-Kowloon Railway，and 14 kilometers away to the south of Jiujiang Airport.Those provide a convenient transportation advantage for the park.Water and power supply are sufficient in the park.It is an ecological professional industrial park.

Jiujiang Automobile Industrial Park is aiming at making the park into a professional motor industrial ecotype park integrating motor manufacture，selling，supplying spare parts and staff living establishment.The planned area of Jiujiang Automobile Industrial Group is 5 square kilometers，relying on the city area of Jiujiang and Changhe Suzuki Automobile Company.

Jiujiang Chemical Fiber Park is located in southeast of Jiujiang，covering the area of 35.8 hectare.Sateri（Jiangxi）Chemical Fiber Co.，Ltd.and Jiujiang Chemical fiber Co.，Ltd.are principal parts of the park.The main products are distinction mucilage glue.The aim is to make the park the largest mucilage glue fiber researching and producing base in Asia.
