Jump Race

 The jump race is one traditional folk sport event of the Tartar people, which is held for celebrating the traditional festival “Saban Festival” of the Tartar ethnic group. The participant holds spoon in mouth and places an egg in the spoon.

Someone also ties his leg with a small burlap bag. All the participants vie with each other to quickly run towards the destination as soon as the host gives command. The participant firstly reaching the destination without dropping the egg is regarded as the winner. The score of the participant who drops the egg or runs with supporting the egg with the hand is invalid.

This sport is simple, but it is very interesting and deeply popular among the Tartar people. The jump race is usually held at family or friend gatherings, and its recreational property is greater than its competitive property.
