The Karamay Mine History Museum is located at Junggar Road 22#, Karamay City, with the floor area of 67,000m2and the structure area of 2800m².

The museum is a base for people in the oil city to carry out patriotism education and oilfield education as well as an important site for comprehensively exhibiting the development history of the petroleum industry in Xinjiang and letting domestic and foreign people know about Karamay. The construction of the museum was started in the spring of 1982. On July 13,1983, the museum was completed and officially opened. The museum comprises two halls-Preface Hall and Hero Personage Hall, and four pavilions-Pavilion about Arduous Pioneering in the 1950s, Pavilion about Braving Difficulties in the 1960s, Pavilion about Fighting for Oil in the 1970s and Pavilion about Reform and Growth in the 1980s.

It exhibits over 300 historicalpictures in total, over 30 figures of various kinds, over 130 material objects, over 230 samples, several historical record videos and 4 large-scale exhibitions Through words, pictures, material objects and models and so on, the Karamay Mine History Museum exhibits the development history of the Karamay Oil Field and records the great contribution and achievement of a vast number of oil workers in developing and constructing Karamay. In its courtyard, an office of the early oilfield development stage,a restored model of underground dormitories and the largest relief sculptures in the Northwest-an entrepreneurial hero wall and an oil worker statue were also constructed.
