Located in the southwest of Luhuitou Peninsula in Sanya，Luhuitou Park looks like an Eld’s deer and has five peaks with different sizes.The highest one is 285 meters.With a total area of 82.88 hectares，the park began constructing in 1984 and was completed and opened in 1989.In 1994，the park was classified as the scenic spot at the state level.The park has seas on three sides，and one side adjacent to the Sanya City.So it not only offers a commanding point for seeing the sea，sunrise and sunset，but also an ideal place for overlooking the panoramic view of Sanya City.

There are mountains named after animals like Cattle Mountain，Dog Mountain，Horse Mountain，etc.，in Hainan，but why does this one called Luhuitou Mountain？There is a beautiful fairy tale spread in thousand years，which connects a brave young Li hunter with a fairy deer together:Long time ago，a handsome young Li hunter ran after an Eld’s deer with a hand-held bow and an arrow.He had crossed 99 mountains，waded 99 rivers，and finally was close to catching up with the deer in the South Sea coast.The deer found no way to go but the ocean below a cliff and the hunter bent his bow and got ready to shoot.The Eld’s deer stopped suddenly on top of the cliff and turned her head back with her clear and beautiful eyes filled with tears.The young hunter gave up shooting.All of a sudden，the Eld’s deer changed into a beautiful Li girl.The two soon fell in love，and finally got married and settled down here.From then on，this mountain is called”Luhuitou”after the story.The granitic sculpture of”Luhuitou”，built in accordance with the romantic tale，is the highest one in Hainan Island.It has become Sanya City’s Sculpture，from which the name”Deer City”originated.

After hearing the origin of the Love Mountain of the South Sea，we have arrived at the Luhuitou Tourism Area.Let’s take the sightseeing bus to the parking lot half way up the hill，and then enjoy your time in the park.

On the right side of the sightseeing bus is the First Sight Love Inscription Inscribed by the former Defense Minister General Zhang Aiping, the First Sight Love Inscription faces the deer status and backs to the panorama of Sanya. From here, we can take a close view of the breathtaking scenery of the estuarywhere two rivers of Sanya join the sea. This inscription not only expresses our affection to lovers, but also to the beautiful scenes of Sanya City and the picturesque landscapes of our motherland.

Luhuitou has been entitled a theme park that unites both love culture and the exhibitions of ecology. It is also the core of Sanya City’s natural forest vegetation preserves with an abundance of plants, including more than 100 national and provincial protection plants. Please take enjoyment in the exotic flowers and rare herbs along the hillside road, the performances of monkeys on the trees and the pigeons circling overhead.

Moving up the hillside, we can see the promenade displaying folk culture ofLi nationality, like the “Luck and Peace Tree”, the Li’s village-style “Rose Tribes”,”Eternal Love”,”Fiesta Drawing”,”Blessing Drawing”,”Harvest Drawing”,”Worship Ancestors”,”Wedding Ceremony”,”Dragons and Phoenixes”and “Frog God Statue”. The whole mountain not only shows the colorful conditions and customs of the local Li people, but also creates an atmosphere of the culture of blessing, which is full of auspice, peace and happiness.

Dear friends, the sight spots on our left side, including “Love Inscription”,”Forever Care”,”Vows of Eternal Love”,”Two Hearts Lock”,”Couple Tree” “Fairy Deer Tree”,”The Loyal Rock”,”Matchmaker”,”Love Monument”, constitute the love culture of Luhuitou Mountain. They reveal the theme of love all over the mountain. During the annual International Wedding Ceremony, lovers at home and abroad would come here to get married and take a vow of loyalty to their love.

Now we have already climbed to the top of the mountain.Look，this is the Luhuitou Statue.It is Hainan’s biggest and highest sculpture，built in accordance with the love tale of the young hunter and the fairy girl.It is a work of Chinese famous sculptor Mr.Lin Yuhao，who is also the creator of”City of the Five Rams”statue in Guangdong Province.The deer statue is the biggest granitic sculpture in Hainan Island，with 15 meters in height，10 meters in length and 9 meters in width.It is made up of 170 blocks of granite and takes five years to be accomplished.On each side of the deer stand the hunter and the fairy girl respectively.The fairy girl has a beautiful look，shy but pleased.And the hunter is strong，unsophisticated and honest.Though back on to each other，they have already been linked heart to heart.It’s said that those who have a photograph taken with them will gain their blessing，so let’s pose with them for pictures and obtain the blessing.

In recent years，the large-scale puppet show”Luhuitou”，a reworking of the Luhuitou fairy tale，has received the national prize of”Five-One Project”.It draws wide attention to the Li and Miao minority cultures by its touring performances across the country，and makes Hainan Island known wider.

As the only mountain park in Hainan Province，Luhuitou Park is the commanding point of Sanya，so it provides a beautiful panorama of the southern sea and the coastal city Sanya.Standing on the Sea-View Pavilion，we can have a panoramic view，including the State Guesthouse，which received state-level leaders in the 1950s and 1960s，and FengHuang Island Wharf.Look into the distance，and you will catch the coastal-style vision with many little sails in the boundless sea that is melted into the sky.

It is getting dark now，from the top we can see the city blazing with lightsand the sea sparkling.Meanwhile，on the mountain you can see beautiful trees and flowers and the colorful sky.Don’t you feel relaxed and happy as if in a poetic dream？Don’t you feel like being in the fairyland at this very moment？To meet the tourists’demands of sightseeing，the park stays open all night long so that they can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Sanya anytime they want.Meanwhile，the opening of the artistic night view lighting system makes the park more charming.
