The Mahmoud Kashgari Tomb is located on the Mulla Mountain of Aizilaite Village in Upal Town of Shufu County which is 45km away from southwest of today’s Kashgar City. The tomb owner, Mahmoud Kashgari(from about 1008 to 1105), was a well-known scholar and famous Uyghur linguist in the Karahn Dynasty, whose Arabic masterpiece, Turkic Dictionary was renowned as Turkic culture encyclopaedia and was published in more than ten languages, whichnot only provides high value for studying the history, geography, customs, social life, art and so on of central Asian countries, but also provides valuable information for studying the history, geography, natural resources, folkcustoms and so on of Turkic tribes.

This tomb was rebuilt in 1985 with attractive appearance and Uyghur traditional architectural style, covering an area of about 670,000m2 and a construction area of 1,160m2, and in the east of which, there is a mosque for tourists believing in Islam and nearby villagers to pray, while in the north of which, there is a cultural relic exhibition room displaying Turkic Dictionary and some books and materials relevant to the introduction of Mahmoud Kashgari’s life.

The whole tomb with towering old trees and beautiful sceneries, which is near the mountain and by the water, is one of the Xinjiang Key Cultural Relics Protection Sites.
