The Uygurs who have lived here generations after generations, created Eastern Xinjiang Mugam which is about the life on the oases: Komul Mugam and Turpan Mugam.
The two kinds of mugam are graceful and elegant in style. But surprisingly, in Komul Muqam and Turpan Muqam is hidden an offbeat animal-mimicking dance, for instance, dances that mimicking the moves of chicks, ducks, horses and camels. It’s full of fun and funny, which enjoys great popularity among the people on the oases. This kind of dance is called nazirkom.
Nazirkom originated from Turpan and enjoys popularity in Shanshan, Toksun, Komul and other regions. Nazirkom is of unrestrained style, with funny moves. It is the most exciting performance at weddings and festivals. The dancers can improvise their moves, mimicking all kinds of moves or poses to express their passion for life. It is called the Uygur disco.
